Swati Tole, M.D.

Swati Tole’s drug development experience spans a wide range of disease areas in adults and children, including neurology, immunology, gastroenterology, hepatology, and infectious disease. She has extensive experience in both rare and common diseases, and has worked across the spectrum of drug development, from IND-enabling phases through Phase IV trials. She has substantial global experience with regulators and clinical sites, having run trials across more than 40 countries.
Prior to joining Capsida, Dr. Tole spent 13 years at Genentech in roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as Vice President of Clinical Development. In this position, Dr. Tole built and led a new organization while overseeing and advising teams working on several molecules across the gastroenterology and hepatology space. Throughout her career, her roles ranged from tactical to highly strategic, progressing from hands-on work with individual molecules, to expert review of clinical programs, to cross-functional decision making and portfolio strategy setting.
Dr. Tole holds an M.D. from the University of California San Francisco, an M.S. in health services research from Stanford University, and a B.S. in biology from Stanford University. She completed her residency in internal medicine and chief residency at UCSF, and her fellowship in health economics and outcomes research at Stanford University.
